Please pray for Theresa.  Her recovery is not going as expected.  Yesterday there were planning how to handle her therapy and today they are praying for her life.  We all know the power of prayer so please get it going!  Thanks!

THERESA BUSE

Just a note to let you know that Theresa Buse (Donna's sister-in-law and your relative too) had surgery today on her last aneurysm.  She went in at 7:35 am and was out at 1:31pm.  It took longer than expected because it was more sensitive than first thought.  The vessel was so thin they could see the blood pulsing in the vein.  The doctor said she was very fortunate because if it was left untreated it would most certainly ruptured.  Another miracle.  She went into ICU about 3:00.  At the time of the Caringbridge posting she was not awake yet.  Please continue to pray for her recovery and thank God that they didn't leave the aneurysm like they were going to do at the beginning!  You can watch the caringbridge site for further updates.   Donna

There's a new sheriff in town...I mean 'Chief!'

We're celebrating Boca's newest Chief today!  We're proud to announce Joe officially became 'Chief Majhess' on the Fire Department and will serve his last day as a Captain on Friday!  He will begin his new duties as Division Chief in a week and begin some regular work hours down here!

One very, very busy day for the Kork's

This has to be one of the busier days, if not THE busiest, in the Korkowski family for celebrations! We have two anniversaries and two birthdays today.....celebrating their anniversaries are Nate & Andrea (Magnuson) Zuidema (#9) and Ben & Deanna O'Donnell (#3). Birthday cakes today for Tom Evenson (Jody Korkowski) (#45) and Sue Korkowski (Ron) (#42). Happy day to all of you!

Shake, rattle and roll.....Florida style

What goes around, comes around...as in poodle skirts, bobby sox, and pony tails. Ellie Grace and Joseph Majhess had a "sock hop" at their school recently and got all gussied up for the occasion. Looking good, really good!!

Just a note from me!

I was feeling lonesome for everyone today, so decided to tell you so. We have been having quite large gatherings at our house lately, 27 on Thursday night with a speaker on Immigration and Immigration Reform. Then on Saturday, we had the parents and students from Elizabeth Ann Seton School across the street come over and beautify our lawn with mowers, clippers, trimmers and you have it. We were elated. Then at 12:30 p.m. we had invited Sister Johnelle's family here, after five years, and had a great dinner with them.

Today, I am just relaxing more and thinking about you. I hope you are doing well, despite all the rain and clouds. I didn't finish the end of the Vikings, because I made supper for Monday night, so I don't know what happened with them.

I go to our blog twice a day, and enjoy every single entry, picture and fun commentary, and keeping in touch with our wonderful family. Have a great week.

It was a big day in North Dakota....

It's very hard to believe, but it's been 23 years ago today that Tom & Caroline Korkowski became Mr. & Mrs. and the family was introduced to "red eye" for the first time....yip, yip, yip!! Congratulations, Tom and Caroline!

Rose Update

Rosie wanted to let you all know how she is doing.  She is now home, but isn't feeling up to snuff yet.  She is very tired and eating very little.  She doesn't want another flare up of the panceatitis.  She is on medication for pain and antibiotics.  Said she was going to go take a nap right now! 

 

Rosie was supposed to work tonight and you all know how she is about that.  Fortunately she was able to be talked into getting someone to cover for her.  Both her clients have the flu.  That would not be a very good situation for any of them!  Can't imagine her giving meds and cleaning up after two sick clients when she isn't any better herself.  The flu is the last thing she needs right now.

 

Please continue to pray for Rosie.  She wanted you all to know she really appreciates all your prayers.

A milestone birthday today for Deize Korkowski as she celebrates her 40th birthday. No problem with all those blazing candles since you have a firefighter in the house! Happy birthday, Deize!

‘Fleet muscle’ is a term that refers to the collective strength of the FPL Nuclear Fleet that can be used to benefit the Fleet’s nuclear sites. OR13 Today is periodically featuring some of the Fleet team members who have been supporting Seabrook’s refueling outage.
Pop Quiz: How many u-tubes are in each of our four steam generators, and how far would they stretch if laid end-to-end? Answer in a moment.
But first, one of the first things Ed Korkowski did when he learned he was coming to Seabrook to work the outage was buy a warm coat. He's glad he did as the weather has already dipped into the 20s in some New England areas and we even saw our first snow last Friday. But trailer 'R' where Ed is working is snug and warm as he sits at a table monitoring the on-going steam generator eddy current testing which is checking the structural integrity of the more than 20,000 u-tubes inside our four steam generators (about 5,000 in each). And as an FPL engineer who specializes in non-destructive testing, Ed has an appreciation for numbers. "Did you know that if each of the more than 20,000 u-tubes were straightened out end-to-end, they would reach from Boston all the way to Philadelphia?" he noted. "That's more than 270 miles." His point is that the eddy current testing is substantial and time-consuming, but necessary nonetheless to ensure our steam generators are operating safely and successfully.
While Ed lives in Juno Beach, Florida just a few minutes' walk from the beach, he is no stranger to cold weather, in fact, Ed was raised in Minnesota. "I got the opportunity to go to Florida and work for FPL, and I'm glad I did," Ed said. I really like my job and I have the opportunity to work at the various FPL locations."
Before working at FPL, Ed studied Non-Destructive Testing Technology at Ridgewater College in Hutchinson, Minnesota. And, he is currently enrolled at Bismarck State College in the Energy Management program.
There is no rest for the weary. As soon as our eddy current testing is completed in a week or so, Ed flies home for a very brief break, but then re-locates to Turkey Point for a while to support the refueling outage and the site's eddy current testing. But before Ed heads back to Florida, he said he plans to have a few more seafood dinners.
Ed's help with the steam generator project has earned praise from his supervisor Russ Lieder. "We really appreciate the work Ed has done," Russ said. "We are very fortunate to have a talented steam generator team in place made up of Westinghouse and NextEra team members. This is big project with a lot of detailed work and Ed has contributed significantly to this effort."

Rosie Update

Just talked to Rosie and she said the results are Pancreatitis.  She is still unable to eat and drinking causes a lot of pain.  She is on antibiotics and pain medicine.  She asked for lots of prayers!

ROSIE UPDATE

Norb and I went to see Rosie this afternoon.  She had just woke up from a little nap.  She said her pain medication just isn't cutting the pain.  They took some blood tests to check for pancreatitis.  There is a lot of back pain, pain in the stomach, on the left side of the chest.  They also did an EKG today which didn't show anything abnormal.  When she went in her white blood count was 17,000. 

 

All in all Rosie is just Rosie.  No matter how bad it is for her she just accepts it as her destiny!  Makes a person think about just how good we have it!

Hi All

 

Just wanted to send you a note about Rosie.  She is in the hospital in room 224, bed 2, 762-1511.  She said they plan to keep her until Thursday - how they know that when they don't even know what is bothering her???

 

She said that she is in a lot of abdominal pain.  They did MRI's of the stomach and lungs.  Nothing showed up.  Dr. Ferguson said they are going to retest because that has happened before and then it shows up the next day as her pancreas giving trouble.  She said she couldn't make it without the pain medication.  Sounded pretty clear headed when she called this morning.  I just talked to her yesterday and she sounded fine, but it was that sudden.

 

She can use all your prayers!

Two celebrations today....Mark Korkowski (#52) has a birthday, and Staci Korkowski (Tom & Caroline) turns 21. Oh boy, I see a whole lot of partying going on today in North Dakota! Happy birthday, Mark and Staci....

I guess I am a star! I published a paper in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings this month and they had me shoot an online video. Of course they did not tell me I should have my text memorized so that I could keep eye contact and that they could not simply cut out words that I wanted to delete, so I did my best!

It's a pair of them today!

Two birthday cakes today....first is Sean Inman (Doug & Dawn O'Donnell Inman) who turns 6. Guess we know who's bringing treats for school today! Our other birthday person is Faye Magnuson (#64) who's going to be enjoying MUCH warmer weather today in Florida. (Heat and sun sound so good right now!!) Happy birthday, Sean and Faye; enjoy your celebrations.

It's hard to believe, but it's been 8 years ago today since Mike and Lisa (Krentz) Stark walked down the aisle and started their married life. Life is busy these days with two little boys, selling a house and building a house! Hope you can take time for a bit of celebration...happy anniversary Mike & Lisa!

Okay, so the Minnesota Twins didn't do so well last night (or the previous two games either) BUT, they provided us all with many hours of entertainment and showed us that even little old Minnesota can play with the 'big boys'. They played some great baseball the last few weeks with many heart-stopping moments. Now they deserve a good rest! We'll see them all in the spring.

It's a very popular day for celebrations in the family....two anniversaries and one birthday! The birthday boy today is Andrew Nelson (Kevin & Julie Korkowski Nelson) who is celebrating his 15th birthday today. Do we see driver's permit in the immediate future??

Rick & Deize Korkowski are celebrating their 6th wedding anniversary as well; looks like a little Florida type celebration going on!

And last, but not least, the newlyweds of one year....Matt & Amber Korkowski. How time flies when you're having fun!

How exhausted is everyone today after that baseball game last night?? Those Minnesota Twins are one scrappy team, and just when we thought the end of the year was in sight, they did it again...and again...and again! We hope they have a little bit of reserve left for the game tonight. Go TWINS!!

It's going to be a blockbuster 24 hours for Minnesota sports fans....hope you're ready! Make sure the remote has fresh batteries; check the snack foods; arrange dinner both days so there's no conflict with the games; and then settle into your favorite chair because you'll be spending a lot of time there today and tomorrow. Feast of St. Francis, of Assisi, October 4

Tonight and tomorrow the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls will be celebrating the feast of our patron, St. Francis of Assisi.  Tonight we are going to Little Falls, and we have a drama around the death of Francis.  All of his early followers show up and express their great admiration of him. I am the narrator, Clara is St. Clare of Assisi and  Loretta is the Voice of Brother Leo, one of his first followers.  It is called the "Transitus" which means the passing from here to eternity...a transition.  Tomorrow we will have a festive brunch, liturgy and dinner in the evening.  Anyway, St. Francis is seen as the most popular saint in history, now named the Patron of Ecology and the Environment.  Also his love for the poor and marginated of the world, is part of our direction also.  Well, this is enough for now.  Happy Feast of  Francis to all my family, including Dennis FRANCIS Korkowski,  James FRANCIS Korkowski, my immedite family, nieces, nephews and extended family. You have given me much love and support as a Franciscan Sister.  Peace and love to all, Sister Cordy

Party in a duck blind??

A couple of things we know for sure today...it is the opening of duck hunting in Minnesota, and it's also Edith Korkowski's (#26) birthday. Therefore, we can also assume a third thing....Edith is celebrating her birthday in the duck blind! At least the relentless rain and wind have stopped, but it's going to be very damp and chilly. Happy birthday, Edith, and hope you come home with a full limit of quackers!

Staci's 39th Birthday

One more year! Staci (Jim P. Korkowski) turns 39 today (10/2) Even though she won't be spending her birthday on Marco Island, in her mind her toes will be in the sand with a cold boat drink in her hand.

Golfing report from yesterday!

I was sitting behind a bush, listening to the Korkowski group talk to the local golf instructor, who had watched the group playing at the Greystone Golf course in Sauk Centre yesterday. The following comments were heard and need to be passed along to the rest of the family.

Mark says ,"I've played so poorly all day, I think I'm going to go drown myself in that lake." The instructor says "I don't think you could keep your head down that long."

Cliff commented "This is the worst golf course I've ever played on!" The instructor said, "This isn 't the golf course, sir! We left that an hour ago!"

Dave said "Well, I have never played this badly before!" The instructor replied, "I didn't realize you had played before, sir."

Jim asked the instructor, "Do you think I can get there with a 5 iron?",and the instructor replied, "Eventually."

Then Faye said, "I'd move heaven and earth to be able to break 100 on this course", and the instructor said "Try heaven, you've already moved most of the earth."

And, finally, the last comment I heard while behind the bush was Theresa saying, "That can't be my ball, it looks far too old", to which the instructor replied, "It's been a long time since you started, madam".
Even with all of the above plus the cooler temperature, everyone had a good golf outing (the hot brandies helped!) The snakes didn't bother anyone too much (putting 3 or more times on a green) and some had to pay up--Cliff and Faye!!! Norb, Donna, Dennis, and Derald joined the group for breakfast at the truck stop. And as Paul Harvey used to say....and now you know the rest of the story!!

THE FARM SALE

It is now official.  The farm is no longer owned by a Korkowski.  Doug and Deb Schaffer and Norb and I signed the final papers yesterday at about 2:00.  It doesn't really feel any different, but the wind is blowing furiously and pounding rain outside.  Could it be the ancestors!!??!!  Hope not! 

 

One thing we will always have are the many memories made here by all of you and others before us passed down through the great Korkowski story telling talent!!  As Gerald told us, we are just making memories, and right he was!!!!!

 

Pray for us in the new direction our life is taking us and that we will take the move in the spirit it is meant to be - another segment of life!!

A new month.....another birthday

It's hard to believe that October is here, but it is, and to start the month off, there's a birthday. Rick Korkowski (#46) gets the 'birthday plate' today, and something tells me that he's going to be a lot warmer today than we are! Enjoy your birthday Rick!
