Another little person celebrates

Another little guy celebrates....Pierre Barsaloux, son of Jeff & Jewel, turns 5 today. Grandma Rose Mary is sure to give him a call! Happy birthday, Pierre!

Congratulations

What a wonderful honor! You do good work and it is great that others recognize it also.  You look great in the pictures and so does Frank.  Theresa

A grand day for Cliff & Free2B!

It was a grand day of celebration for Cliff, staff and the whole board of Free2B as the Metro North Chamber of Commerce presented them with the chamber's yearly award for Excellence in Business. They had a heads-up for the last week about the upcoming luncheon and awards ceremony so board members and businesses contributing to FTB's success could attend, but it didn't dampen the happiness of being named out of hundreds of local businesses. The emcee was none other than Frank Vascellaro, (shown above) one of the WCCO t.v. anchors, and he was great at keeping the audience informed of the scoring of the Twins' game taking place during the luncheon. The other person pictured is Gary Levine, who worked with Cliff at the college years ago, and now is on the Free2B board. So, it was a great day for everyone involved!

A busy seven years....

"Happy anniversary" today to Doug and Dawn (O'Donnell) Inman as they celebrate #7! The two little boys are sure to be excited about any reason for a celebration; maybe grandma Annette will help them with any little creations for mom and dad. Happy anniversary, Doug & Dawn!

Vikings' football is exhausting...for the fans!!

If you wanted to experience every emotion possible today...happiness, sadness, anger, elation, etc...then the Vikings game was the place to be!! Cliff and I came away today totally drained after the up and down, backwards and forwards of the day. Just when we thought all hope was lost.....good old #4 came thru in the clutch. If you have ever thought you've heard the maximum decibels in noise, then you were not at the game today. It was deafening to say the least! It was THE game to be at, and we are so glad we bid on this package last spring at Mardi Gras. And, to those few fans in front of us and next to us who left the game early in disgust, we hope you enjoyed hearing the final 90 seconds on the street and realized you had just missed the game of the year. :) Now we must retire for the evening....we are exhausted!

"Twinkles" has her day

Every day is fun when you're 5, but when it's your 5th birthday, it's even more exciting! And today there'll be excitement galore at Mike and Brenda (Magnuson) Dupont's house as little Lexi Dupont (a.k.a. Twinkles) has her cake and ice cream. Happy birthday, Lexi!

He's already 17....

The birthday boy today is Erik Nelson (Kevin & Julie Korkowski Nelson) who turns 17. Tell the teachers to take it easy on you for the day, hopefully no exams or tough stuff! Happy birthday, Erik......

Sitting on top of the world!

Need a little adventure in your life?? How about doing what Rick Korkowski does on a regular basis, just doing his job? Looking at the climb makes a person dizzy and lightheaded. Rick took the picture of himself at the peak....one brave guy as I would have had both arms AND both legs wrapped around that pole! The view had to be fantastic (if you could look!)

Hunters' bounty!

The hunters have returned, safe and sound! Mike sent me this photo, saying that all had fun and came back no worse for wear. Elk were not plentiful, elusive might be the more correct word! However, squirrels were in abundance (as shown here!!) and they could have filled many a freezer with them....thanks, but no thanks.

One, two, THREE!

Three is the magic number for Andrew Majhess, a.k.a. "Angel Pie" (Joe & Jennifer Korkowski Majhess) as he celebrates his birthday today down in sunny south Florida. Hope it's a day full of playing with his trucks, maybe going to the beach, and of course, cake and ice cream! Happy birthday, Andrew!

It's only a number, Cordy...the speed limit on I-94!

Today's a BIG day for Cordy, as she celebrates her 70th birthday! We know she'll be surrounded by family, friends, and many Franciscans today in Little Falls. The Korkowski family sends you a big shout-out.......HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CORDY, WE LOVE YOU!!

The big guy has a birthday today!

Today the focus is on our house as Cliff (or Bopbop, Grandpa, Hon) celebrates his birthday (#67). Poor guy has to work a bit this morning, but then we'll head up to the lake for a short weekend where he can dream about sitting in that new pontoon next summer....all he needs now is a sailor's cap!

A big milestone in a little person's life....

Kiatta Korkowski (Rick & Deize) loves school and can't wait for her mother to leave. Hannah is having a very hard time dealing with this new situation. She simply cannot understand where Kiatta is going or why!

More September birthdays.........

We have a couple more birthdays to celebrate today....Deanna O'Donnell (#28) will hopefully get to celebrate with hubby Ben over the weekend, and little Alyssa Korkowski (Nate & Edith) will have just one big candle on her first birthday cake. Another beautiful fall day to celebrate....happy birthday to you both!

Cute story,

Bev,
Today the OLN channel was on and the kids were talking about hunting. One little girl was arguing with the boys and I asked what the problem was. She informed me that the boys said girls can't hunt and she was explaining to them that if they have caribou even in the wild the girls will be there because we all love the good coffee. It just seemed like a comment that was too good not to share. Annette
Sounds like that is one very smart little girl....she certainly knows what she's talking about! It appears the two gentlemen in the picture below could have used a little caffeine. B.

Some men in the family go hunting, some.......

In going thru my "stash" of photos, this one is too good not to share! While some of the Korkowski men are out trying to fill the coffers for the winter ahead, some of our family members appear to be going to the other extreme. Ah, sweet summer!

MEMORY BOOKS

I AM NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET THE BOOKS PRINTED THIS WEEK.  HOPEFULLY THOSE OF YOU WHO ORDERED ARE NOT IN A HUGE HURRY!!!!  IF YOU WANT TO ORDER UNTIL THE 21ST, THERE IS STILL TIME!

YOU WOULD THINK A PERSON WOULD HAVE LOTS OF TIME WHEN THE HUSBAND IS AWAY HUNTING AND COULD GET ALL THOSE PROJECTS DONE!  THERE IS NO ONE HOLDING THE WHIP!!

DONNA

Time flies when you're having fun........

Today's celebration is for an anniversary....Joe & Sue Korkowski are celebrating 19 years of 'matrimonial bliss'! Hope you have a great day, you two.

You've got to love fall....and the start of school!

If you're a mom with kids in school, or a grandma who's been there (!) September is sort of bittersweet.....it's the end of summer, BUT, it's the beginning of school and away the kids go on the bus! Here are Mason, Grace, and Jacob (Ron & Sue) as they are off to start a new school year. Ah, a bit of quiet time once again!!

Adam starts kindergarten!

Adam (5 y/o) headed off to school for the first time last Friday. He is the last of our three children to attend school (Anna 11 y/o and Alex 12 y/o). In Adam's words...."my first day was good and bad. The bad....some boy called me a 4 y/o". Needless to say, Adam is a peanut and needed to convince the kids that he really should be attending school! Sue

REMINDER FOR MEMORY BOOKS

This is just a reminder that if you want more memory books to please let me know by the 15th at dono@gctel.com.   They are $5.00 each.  Thanks again for the great memories!  Donna

Teacher, teacher!

Will the students be on their best behavior today as the teacher celebrates her birthday? Or maybe she can give them a "gift" of no homework? However the day turns out, happy birthday to Rachel Krentz (#27). Tell Tony he's in charge of dinner!

Look who's hanging out on campus!

Hi everyone,  Derald and I just returned from the U of M campus.  We were standing in front of the new football stadium, Mariucci Arena and Williams Arena and looked to the north.  There on the side of the Lion's Research Center was our Tony.  You can see the stadium reflection on the glass building.  It was very cool.  He is somehow adhered to the glass.  Derald and I are going to sneak there tonight and spray paint "Derald and Theresa Krentz - Proud Parents" on the bottem corner.  Don't tell anyone it was us.

It was a Korkowski day at the hospital back then!

34 years ago today, the maternity ward at the Alexandria hospital probably was wondering what was going on as two Korkowski babies were born on the same day...Patrick and Jill. Little did they know that the number of cousins in the family was only just beginning!! Happy birthday to you both.

Double digits for Morgan today

It's a double digit birthday today for Morgan Thompson (Troy & Brandi Magnuson) who turns 10. How lucky to have no school today so she can sleep in and then celebrate. Happy birthday, Morgan!

The birthday girl today....

We've all heard the phrase..."when the cat's away, the mice will play" and this could very well be the case today with our birthday girl! Donna Korkowski (#58) may well be headed off for a bit of casino action as Norb works on 'bringing home the bacon'. Whatever your plans, hope you have a wonderful day....happy birthday, Donna!

Seems like just the other day!

Four years ago today, a beautiful backyard was the backdrop for Bill and Megan (Korkowski) Nicholas' wedding. Even the weather cooperated that day, albeit a bit toasty! You'll have a very similar day today as you celebrate your special day; happy anniversary!

'Tis the season....for hunting

As some of the Korkowski men head West this morning as "hunters and gatherers", it seems Chris Korkowski (Tom & Caroline) got the job done last Saturday morning near Medora, using his bow as the weapon of choice. Good job, Chris, and now the guys have added inspiration to bring home meat for the freezer!

Theresa Buse

Please continue to pray for Theresa "Buse" as she is going to have another surgery on Wednesday of this week.  They are going to do the least invasive of the two remaining aneurysms.  If you have been watching the caringbridge site you are updated, but just in case you haven't - we can sure use all your prayers!

Thanks, Donna

As Paul Harvey would say..."the rest of the story"

Over the weekend, a couple of emails from family suggested that indeed Angela Lansbury was in our midst and that we would know one of the people involved in getting a home ready for her, and they are correct! That person would be Bill Nicholas, Megan's (Korkowski) husband. She gave the final "scoop" on this ice cream caper; thank you, Megan! (see her email below)

Angela's son and daughter-in-law have a cabin on Lake Miltona, part of the Minnesouri club. She is visiting and staying with them for a while. Darin Batesole, a local contractor did an extensive remodel on the cabin and Bill finished all of the hard wood floors for him (what they call their 'cabin' is nearly 3000 sq ft!!) Angela's son is Anthony Lee Shaw - a film/movie director. Unfortunately, Bill has not had the opportunity to meet them.

Darn, I just can't remember where these go!

Some days, you can't remember squat.....Abby Oxentenko, age 3-1/2, hasn't quite got the correct order of clothing, although versatility is very good to learn early on. It's good to know you always have some sort of head covering in case of an emergency cold spell!

Memories, sweet memories!!!!!!!

One week ago, Flavia Ann, Rosemary, Theresa Marie and I were knee deep in potato salad at Theresa and Derald's lake dwelling. .  We cut and cut until we ended up with at least 65 pounds of that creamy stuff...a little exaggeration as a tribute to Dad.  It almost all went except for maybe 25 pounds, or was it 10 pounds or so, but we had some takers and now it is history.  I had a great week just reminiscing and I am grateful:
    * that it stopped raining and we had a sunny day, inside and out
*for all that Norb and Donna planned for us with great love, the lovely setting and set - up
    * for family members and friends  that put up and took down...those heavy tables. Those brothers and family members  of mine are strong as are the friends of the brothers
*for the beautiful cross and poem...thanks to Norb, Donna for their labor of love  and Nathan for engraving
*for the memory book, for all who helped put together the booklets, writers, photographer(s) and assemblers.  For family, Norb and Donna, Dennis and Chris, who are willing to arrange more more and for the CD that is in the works.   The memory  book is such a treasure.  I have put it out for all guests here this week. I enjoyed each and every entry from my brothers and sisters.  It was well done.
*for celebrating Dennis and Chris with that Red Eye...how  it was enjoyed by all and Annette for the cake.  Thanks Tom and Caroline for bringing the Red Eye and passing it out with joy.
    * for all those who were present, helped with the food,  and made our HOEDOWN a lasting memory for our family- Dennis, Jim, Cliff, Norb, Faye, David, Gerald (in spirit), Theresa, Rosemary, Annette, Michael and Mark and all their kit and kin.

Sister Cordy

Ten years and three kids later...

Happy anniversary today to Shawn and Amy (Korkowski) Oxentenko as they celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. How time flies when you're having fun! Hope Shawn comes thru with a nice dinner someplace.... and no kids. :)

You never know who'll you see in Osakis!!

The people in Osakis, and specifically at Just Like Grandmas, are all abuzz this afternoon as they had a famous visitor today.....Angela Lansbury, who starred in "Murder She Wrote" on television for many years. I personally got there as she was leaving with her ice cream cone and headed to her car. People were standing around, talking about "her" but I just figured it was someone local that everyone knew. It was only when I was checking out and asked the clerk if there was someone famous who had just been there, and she told me the "scoop" as she literally was the person who scooped her ice cream. She thought that she looked a lot like Angela Lansbury and asked if people ever told her that she did; her reply was that "yes, she's been told that before" when a person accompanying her nodded his head and mouthed the words "she is Angela Lansbury". Seems she has a relative who lives in the Lake Miltona area where she is currently visiting. Guess I'd better gussy up the next time I go to town.....you never know who might be there!! Bev
An additional little tidbit from Donna.....interesting things you find out! Thanks, Donna.
Should have mentioned to you that she is living in this area with her son. He had some local people work on his house to make it more handicapped accessible for her. She has trouble with steps! What I wouldn't give to meet her. She is awesome. A class act!!!

Andrew's off to school!!

Angel Pie headed off to his first day of school yesterday!  Andrew started PreK with a bit of hesitation, but ended up having a great day!!

Have a great one!

Jennifer

Beautiful Bridesmaids

Can't forget the beautiful bridesmaids...

42nd Wedding Anniversary

Here are a couple reminders of the day.
Best wishes from Dennis and Chris

42 Years Ago Today

42 years ago today, Bev (Roers) and Cliff Korkowski said “I Do”, and tied the knot. It was a match made in heaven, and after the 3rd date, Cliff asked Bev to marry him, of which she said “NO”. She must have seen something she liked though, as eventually she said “YES”.

Glad that she did and that they got married, or some of us would not be here today J

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Paul

Thanks for the greetings, Paul! Thought I'd insert a picture from that day of long ago, like 100 lbs. ago between the two of us!!! :)
